Gold Coast Bathroom Renovation

This master bathroom renovation in Gold Coast, Chicago was designed to create a more functional, spacious, and elevated primary bath experience. The renovation included a new tub, a reworked floor plan, a larger steam shower, all new tile work, and a new vanity, transforming the bathroom into a more luxurious and modern retreat within the home.

Gold Coast, Chicago
Challenge

The existing layout put the vanity, tub, and shower in a configuration that made the room feel cramped even though the square footage was adequate. The renovation required a full floor-plan rethink — moving plumbing to place the steam shower and tub where the space could actually open up.

Gold Coast condos also add their own logistics: building management work windows, freight elevator reservations, and HOA documentation all have to be planned before a single tool goes in.

Gold Coast Bathroom Renovation
Approach

The existing layout was the first thing we addressed. The bathroom had the square footage to be a well-functioning primary bath, but the original configuration placed the shower, tub, and vanity in positions that made the room feel fragmented. Before any finish decisions were made, we reworked the floor plan to give each zone proper room to function while keeping the circulation through the space clear.

With the layout resolved, we rebuilt the room from the floor up — new tile throughout, a larger steam shower, a freestanding tub positioned to anchor the room visually, and a new vanity with updated fixtures. The finish selections were calibrated for a Gold Coast primary bathroom: polished, durable, and refined without being decorative for its own sake. The completed room functions better than the original on every measure and reads as a different space entirely.

Scope

The scope of work for this Gold Coast master bathroom remodel was a complete renovation of the primary bathroom — everything from the floor plan reconfiguration through the final fixture installations. The project involved reworking the layout to improve the flow between the shower, tub, and vanity areas, installing a larger custom steam shower with full tile surround, adding a new freestanding tub, completing all new tile work throughout the floor and walls, and installing a new vanity with updated fixtures. The layout change was the most critical decision — the existing configuration made the room feel fragmented. Reworking it allowed each zone to function independently while the room read as a single unified space. Every finish selection — tile, fixtures, hardware — was made to match the elevated character expected in a Gold Coast primary bathroom.
